Puppy's First Groom

Thorough shampooing and conditioning appropriate for your dog's coat and skin
Complete drying including towel-dry, hand drying, and cool air crate-circulation. Drying methods are tailored to each dog and vary based on breed, age, temperament, and health

An upkeep groom is a great way for dogs requiring regular haircuts to keep looking neat between their standard groom appointments. Your dog will receive their usual bath, brush-out, and other spa services, but the length of their coat will be preserved.

It's best to introduce your dog to grooming at an early age so they can gradually become comfortable with the process.

We welcome puppies as young as ten weeks old and they will receive a gentle and abbreviated version of a standard groom- our focus will be on introducing them to the environment and allowing them to adjust to the new sensations.

''How old should my puppy be for their first groom?''

IT’S BEST TO INTRODUCE YOUR DOG TO GROOMING AT AN EARLY AGE SO THEY CAN GRADUALLY BECOME COMFORTABLE WITH THE PROCESS.

''Should I stay to watch my pet get groomed?''

IN OUR EXPERIENCE IT IS SAFER FOR PETS TO BE GROOMED WITHOUT THEIR FAMILIES PRESENT.

Simply put, they are often too excited to see you to maintain the level of composure our staff needs to work with them. Keeping in mind that the safety of the dogs in our care is our top priority, we ask that families respect our judgement in this matter.

''Are any specific vaccinations required?''

ALL PETS MUST HAVE A CURRENT RABIES VACCINE.

New clients must provide proof of vaccination upon drop-off at their first appointment. When your dog’s vaccination expires we will request proof of their updated vaccination.

''How far in advance should I book an appointment?''

ON AVERAGE APPOINTMENTS ARE AVAILABLE TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE.

This wait-time will fluctuate based on time of year as well as the type of grooming service requested. Please contact the shop to check the current booking schedule and we will do our very best to accommodate you and your dog. We encourage all of our clients to pre-book their next appointment at the time of checkout to ensure that they receive an appointment on their preferred day and time.

''How long does an average appointment last?''

AT LEAST A FOUR HOUR WINDOW IS NEEDED FOR YOUR DOG TO COMFORTABLY MOVE THROUGH THE GROOMING PROCESS.

This may vary based on breed, size, and age. Pickup times will be discussed and confirmed at drop-off on the day of your appointment and we are generally able to accommodate our clients' schedules.

''Will my dog be in a crate?''

OUR SHOP IS OPEN-RUN AND OUR GOAL GOAL IS TO ALLOW THE DOGS AS MUCH UNCRATED TIME AS POSSIBLE..

Generally, dogs will only be crated for the final stage of drying after their bath. All of our crate dryers circulate cool air. The crating area is centered between the grooming and bathing areas and is constantly monitored by staff.

A dog exhibiting advanced levels of stress while contained will never be forced to remain in a crate. Our playroom will be made available should a dog need to be both uncrated and in a space separate from other dogs.

Exceptions which will lead to a dog being crated include: marking, antagonistic or aggressive behavior with other dogs, or dangerous/disruptive hyperactivity. Unaltered adult dogs are assessed on an individual basis but generally do need to be separated from the other dogs.
